Meatless Day
fest to offer 100 dishes
The International Meatless Day Carnival
at the Esplanade on Nov 16 will see 50 stalls selling
over 100 varieties of mouth-watering, meatless dishes.

Pishu Murli Hassaram said there would also be games
stalls, competitions, cooking demonstrations and other
wholesome entertainment.
“We hope to raise RM40,000 for
the Penang and Province Wellesley Buddhist Free Clinic
and the Sadhu Vaswani Welfare Fund,” he told a
press conference yesterday.
Present were state tourism committee
chairman Datuk Kee Phaik Cheen, Penang International
Hotels Association chairman Edwin Yap and Malaysian
Buddhist Associa-tion secretary Lim Tien Phong.
The campaign’s soft launch will
be held at the Bayview Beach Resort on Oct 27 where
Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon will pledge to
go meatless on Nov 25 .
Tickets for the carnival, priced at
RM10 per booklet, are available at the Society for the
Teachings of Sadhu Vaswani, 51, Bishop Street (04-2610126)
or at the MBA at 182, Burma Road (04-2262690).
The booklet has six vouchers for special
discounts at selected vegetarian restaurants, retail
outlets and hotels.
Those interested in setting up stalls
can collect their forms from Pishu or Lim. Closing date
is Oct 14.
